About me
I've been working as a producer for more than twenty years.
I started working as an Audio Engineer in 1984. Over the next 14 years I worked on all manner of audio production including recording, mixing, mastering, post-production, live sound and location recording. In an industry that encourages specialisation, I was fortunate enough to work on an extremely varied range of projects, which gave me an appreciation of the art of audio, regardless of the subject matter.
In 2000 I moved into multimedia production when I started working for a company that produced training material for the automotive industry. I lived through the dotcom boom and bust, learnt a lot about video production, the value of a great Graphic Designer, the challenges of delivering multimedia over the internet, and instructional design.
Since 2006 I've been working as a "Technical Writer" for a software developer producing simulation, financial and planning software for the mining industry. The Wikipedia description of this job title is fairly accurate, but in my case the role includes web development and multimedia production.
In my spare time I continue to be involved in producing websites, audio and multimedia for the entertainment industry.
Why "document.write();"?
document.write(); was one of the first javascript methods I learnt when I started doing web development. Over the years I've had to write it about a million times, so it's stuck in my head. As a Content Developer I spend a lot of time writing, so to me document.write(); is a term that covers the development and creative sides of my job. If you came here looking for a definition of the method, I recommend Mozilla's documentation.
Apart from being an online portfolio of my more recent work, I use this site to test new technologies for web development. I try to make sure that live code is always working, but if you find a H, T, M or L out of place, please let me know. Enjoy your visit, and please drive carefully.
