An introduction to the Signal Flow in Alchemy

Transcript

In this video I'll introduce you to the signal flow in Alchemy, and show you how sound gets from Source, to Output.

Alchemy's signal begins at one of the four sound generating modules, called Sources.

To enable a source, click the letter next to the sound name.

Each source, can be made up of three elements. To view the elements, click one of the source buttons.

Elements are enabled by selecting the ON button, next to each element type.

The signal begins with one or all of these elements, and then passes through the source filters, which can be configured in series or parallel. To enable the source Filters, select the ON button next to the Filter button, then select the ON button for each of the filters you want to use.

The output destination for each source, is set by the Filter-Mix control. Turning Filter-Mix fully anti-clockwise sends all of the signal to the first of the two Main Filters, and turning it fully clockwise sends all of the signal to the second Main Filter. Double-clicking on this control sends an equal amount of the signal to both.

The output routing for the Main Filters is set by the FX-Mix controls. When the FX-Mix controls are set to zero percent, the Filter outputs are sent directly to the Main outputs.

When they are set to 100 percent, the Filter outputs are routed to the Effects module. Up to five effects can be added to the signal chain.

The final link in the Alchemy signal chain is the Master output section. This section contains Master Pan and Pitch controls, and the Amp control, that sets the final output level.

Note that the Amp control is modulated so be careful not to clear this routing.

Now that you understand the signal flow you're ready to start creating your own sounds, and to discover the power of Alchemy.
