How to bounce MIDI to audio in Podium
Transcript
In this video, I'm going to show you how to convert a MIDI track, to an audio file, in the Podium digital audio workstation.
This process is sometimes called freeze, but in Podium it's called Bounce.
To bounce a MIDI track, right-click on the track header, and select Bounce > Enable Offline Mode and Render.
When you select this option, Podium renders the MIDI to an audio track, and the rendered audio appears in the playlist on top of the MIDI track.
At this point you can select the track, but you can't select the audio and MIDI separately. If you want to do this, right-click on the track header, and select Bounce > Hide Bounce Track Lane. The audio will then appear in a separate playlist lane, and you can independently select the audio, or the MIDI.
When a track is bounced, the MIDI instrument is muted to save processing power, but you can umute and edit the original MIDI track at any time by clicking the B button in the track header for the audio file. To demonstrate, I'll make an edit to the MIDI file, and then bounce the track again.
Bouncing gives you the power to convert your MIDI tracks to audio files, and to save processing power, while retaining the flexibility to make changes to the original files.
